UNIT GOAL:  Students will understand the importance of domestic animals and
            their roles in modern society.
______________________________________________________________________________

Unit objectives: Upon completion of this unit, the students will be able to:

1. Describe the importance of animal domestication.

2.  Identify within each domestic species four livestock enterprises that are
   part of production agriculture in the United States.

**3. Define hormone.

**4. Define steroid.

**5. Discuss each of the hormones used in meat animal production and their
     general effect.

**6. View both a promotional and an "anti" film concerning the use of hormones
     in livestock, and discuss the films as a class.

  7. Maintain an animal through a full production cycle.

  the topic presentation on hormones.
