          UNIT GOAL:

          Students shall understand the economic importance of the

          agricultural sector in California, including leading production

          areas and commodities.



          UNIT OBJECTIVES:  Upon completion of this unit, the students will

          be able to:



          1. Identify the major agricultural production areas of California

             and list three major commodities produced in each.



          2. List the dollar value of the five leading agricultural

             commodities produced in their county.



          3. List the dollar value of the five leading agricultural 

             commodities produced in the state.



          4. Describe and discuss the economic impact of the agricultural

             sector on the state and national economy.



          5. Describe and discuss the "cost-price squeeze" and understand

             its effect on California agriculture.
